Toucan



Materials:

  • Paper plate
  • 2 A4 pieces of black cardboard paper
  • Black poster paint
  • Green poster paint
  • Red poster paint
  • Scissors
  • White craft glue
  • Googly eye
  • Brown cardboard paper
  • Red tissue paper
  • Yellow tissue paper
Method:
  1. Cut the paper plate in half.
  2. Paint the front side of the one paper plate half black.
  3. Paint the under side of the other paper plate half mostly green, with the tip being red.
  4. Whilst drying, trace your hand onto the black card. Your fingers must be together, not spread apart.
  5. Cut out.
  6. Cut out the body from the other piece of black card. (See picture)
  7. From the brown card, cut out 2 feet.
  8. Tear up the red and yellow tissue paper and roll into balls.
  9. Use the craft glue to stick the googly eye onto the body.
  10. Once the plates have dried, use craft glue to stick them onto the body where they are meant to go. (See picture)
  11. Use craft glue to stick most of the red tissue paper balls in a row above the feet.
  12. Stick the yellow tissue paper balls around the eye and down the side of the beak. 
  13. Stick a few red balls onto the edge of the yellow balls.

Colourful Zebra



Materials:


  • Blue A2 cardboard paper
  • 4 pieces white A4 cardboard paper
  • Green A4 cardboard paper
  • Purple A4 cardboard paper
  • Orange A4 cardboard paper
  • Yellow A4 cardboard paper
  • Red A4 cardboard paper
  • 2 pieces of blue A4 cardboard paper

  • Scissors
  • Pritt glue
  • White craft glue
  • Yellow wool
  • Orange wool

  • Green wool
Method:
  1. As per picture above

Craft Stick Dolls






Materials:

  • 2 craft sticks
  • White craft glue
  • Black kokie
  • Wool
  • Scissors
  • Cupcake liner
  • Coloured pencils
  • Flesh coloured card 
Method:
  1. Flatten out the cupcake liner and colour it in.
  2. Fold the cupcake liner in half twice to make a small triangle.
  3. Use craft glue to stick the triangle onto one of the craft sticks to make a dress.
  4. Cut out a circle from the coloured card.
  5. Use the black kokie to draw a face.
  6. Cut some wool for the hair.
  7. Use the craft glue to stick the wool onto the head.
  8. Stick the head onto the other craft stick.
  9. Stick the craft stick with the dress on, on top of the other craft stick cross ways to create a doll.

Multi-Medium Garden Scene



Materials:

  • White cardboard paper
  • Blue watercolour paint
  • Yellow pipe cleaner
  • Yellow wool
  • Green pastel
  • Flower shaped buttons
  • Googly eye
  • Flower and leaf shaped sequins
  • Pencil crayons
  • Kokies
  • Scrap fabric
  • Scissors
  • White craft glue
Method:
  1. Paint your card with the blue watercolour paint.
  2. Once dried, use the green pastel to draw in grass and flower stems.
  3. Use craft glue to stick the flower shaped buttons onto the stems and grass, leaving one stem free.
  4. Cut out a flower shape from the scrap fabric.
  5. Use craft glue to stick the piece of fabric to the last flower stem.
  6. Use the flower and leaf shaped sequins to decorate the grass and stems.
  7. Roll the pipe cleaner into a tight spiral shape and use craft glue to stick it down at the top of the page for the sun.
  8. Cut small pieces of yellow wool and use craft glue to stick them as the sun's rays.
  9. Use a kokie to draw the outline of a bird in the sky.
  10. Use a pencil crayon to colour the bird in.
  11. Use craft glue to stick a small googly eye onto the bird.

Paper Bag Elephant

4 year old
Materials:

  • Brown paper bag
  • Grey paint
  • Scissors
  • 2 A4 white cardboard paper
  • White craft glue
  • 2 googly eyes
Method:
  1. Paint one side of the paper bag grey.
  2. Paint one of the white cards grey.
  3. Once dry, cut out 2 ears and a trunk from the grey card.
  4. Cut out 2 tusks from the white card.
  5. Use the craft glue to stick them all into place.
  6. Use the craft glue to stick on the googly eyes.

Paper Plate Handbag




Materials:

  • Paper plate
  • Pink paint
  • Pink wool
  • Hole punch
Method:
  1. Paint the top side of the paper plate pink.
  2. Once dried, punch holes around the plate.
  3. Fold the plate in half so that the pink is on the outside. Try match the holes but it is not serious if they are out of sync.
  4. Thread the pink wool through the holes "sewing" the 2 sides of the plate together.
  5. Leave some wool at the top to be able to tie into a handle.

Hot Air Balloon Scene



Materials:

  • Blue cardboard paper
  • White paper
  • 6 buttons of various sizes and colours
  • Big yellow/orange button
  • Yellow/orange pastel
  • Pritt glue
  • White craft glue
  • Black kokie
Method:
  1. Cut out a few clouds from the white paper.
  2. Glue them onto the blue card with Pritt glue.
  3. Using craft glue, stick the 6 buttons over the blue card.
  4. Use craft glue to stick the yellow/orange button into the top corner.
  5. Use the yellow/orange pastel to draw sun rays around the yellow/orange button.
  6. Use the black kokie to draw a basket and rope for each of the 6 buttons.

Paper Plate and Feather Owl



Materials:

  • 2 paper plates
  • A3 black cardboard paper
  • Silver star stickers
  • Blue paper
  • Black paper
  • Orange paper
  • Scissors
  • White craft glue
  • Pritt glue
  • White feathers
  • White paint
Method:
  1. Paint the back of one of the paper plates white. You may have to do 2 coats.
  2. Whilst drying, cut the other paper plate up to make 2 wings.
  3. Cut out 2 rounded squares from the blue paper.
  4. Cut out a rounded triangle from the orange paper.
  5. Cut out 2 small circles from the black paper.
  6. Use Pritt glue to glue on the eyes and beak.
  7. Use the craft glue to stick the wings and head to the black card.
  8. Use the craft glue to stick the feathers onto the wings.
  9. Randomly stick silver stars onto the black background.

Glitter Glue Rocket


4 year old



















 Materials:

  • Black cardboard paper
  • White paper
  • Red paper
  • Green paper
  • 3 red buttons
  • Pritt glue
  • White craft glue
  • Scissors
  • Silver glitter glue
  • Gold glitter glue
  • Green glitter glue
Method:
  1. Cut out a 16 cm x 7 cm rectangle from the white paper.
  2. Cut out a triangle with a 7 cm base from the red paper.
  3. Cut out 2 right angled triangles from the green paper.
  4. Use the Pritt glue to stick them onto the black card to make a rocket.
  5. Take the green glitter glue and draw 3 circles below each other on the white paper.
  6. Use the craft glue to stick 1 red button in each of the green circles.
  7. Use the gold glitter glue to draw and colour in flames coming from the bottom of the rocket.
  8. Use the silver glitter glue to make dots around the rest of the black card as stars.

Clothes Peg Golden Sun




3 year old

 Materials:

  • Paper plate
  • Yellow poster paint
  • 2 googly eyes
  • 5 clothes pegs
  • Purple tissue paper
  • Red tissue paper
  • Orange tissue paper
  • Yellow tissue paper
  • Blue tissue paper
  • White craft glue
  • Red kokie
Method:
  1. Cut the paper plate in half.
  2. Paint the one half yellow.
  3. Paint the 5 clothes pegs yellow.
  4. Cut out 1 strip of each of the colours of tissue paper.
  5. Once the plate has dried, use craft glue to stick the strips to the straight part of the plate.
  6. Use craft glue to stick on the googly eyes.
  7. Use the red kokie to draw a mouth.
  8. Once the pegs have dried, clip them onto the outside of the sun!

Paper Bag Bee





















Materials:

  • Brown paper bag
  • Yellow cardboard paper
  • White cardboard paper
  • Pritt glue
  • Scissors
  • Black marker OR black paint
  • Yellow paint
Method:
  1. Use yellow paint to paint the side of the paper bag with the flap.
  2. Whilst drying, cut out 2 feelers from the yellow card.
  3. Cut out 2 wings from the white card.
  4. Cut out 2 small circles from the white card for the eyes.
  5. Once the paper plate has dried, use the black marker or black paint to draw/paint on stripes.
  6. Once that has dried use the Pritt glue to stick on the wings, feelers and eyes.
  7. Draw/paint black oval in the eyes.

Paper Bag Puppy



Materials:

  • Brown paper bag
  • Black cardboard paper
  • Pritt glue
  • Black kokie
  • Green paper
  • Aluminium foil
  • Permanent marker
Method:
  1. Use the black kokie to draw eyes, nose and a mouth onto the paper bag.
  2. Cut out a thin strip of green paper and use the Pritt glue to stick it straight across, underneath the face.
  3. Cut out a bone shape from the black card.
  4. Cover the bone shape in aluminium foil - make sure to keep the bone shape!
  5. Use Pritt glue to stick the bone onto the collar.
  6. Cut out ears from the black card.
  7. Use Pritt glue to stick them onto the paper bag.
  8. Use the permanent marker to write your dog's name on the tag!

Toilet Paper Roll Rocket



Materials:
  • Empty toilet paper roll
  • Pritt glue
  • Stapler
  • Aluminium foil
  • Orange paper
  • Yellow cardboard paper
  • Scissors
  • White craft glue
Method:
  1. Cut the orange paper to size and use Pritt glue to stick it around the toilet paper roll.
  2. Cut 2 strips of foil and use Pritt glue to stick them over the orange paper.
  3. Cut out 5 circles from the foil and use Pritt to stick them on too.
  4. From the yellow card, cut out a circle and cut a triangle out of the circle - like a slice of pizza.
  5. Use the stapler to staple the 2 sides of the cut out triangle together to make a cone.
  6. Use craft glue to stick the cone to the top of the rocket.
  7. Cut out 2 smaller triangles and use craft glue to stick them near the bottom of the rocket as wings.

Cupcake Liner Ghosts



Materials:
  • Black cardboard paper
  • 3 white cupcake liners
  • White craft glue
  • Black kokie
  • 6 googly eyes
  • 5 large craft sticks
  • 5 smaller craft sticks
  • Scissors
  • Pink pastel
Method:
  1. Cut out the cupcake liners in the shape of ghosts.
  2. Use the black kokie to draw on mouths.
  3. Use the pink pastel to draw on cheeks.
  4. Use the craft glue to stick on the googly eyes.
  5. Use the craft glue to stick the large craft sticks to the black card to mimic fence poles.
  6. Use the smaller craft sticks horizontally to mimic the wire joining the poles.
  7. Use craft glue to stick the ghosts onto the fence.

Snowman with Ribbon



Materials:
  • White cardboard paper
  • Black kokie
  • Red kokie
  • Pastels
  • White craft glue
  • Cotton wool
  • 2 googly eyes
  • Black button
  • 3 coloured buttons
  • String
  • Ribbon
Method:
  1. Draw an outline of a snowman with the black kokie.
  2. Colour the hat in with the pastels.
  3. Spread craft glue on the tummy and head of the snowman.
  4. Stick wisps of cotton wool onto the glue.
  5. Use the craft glue to stick on the eyes, buttons and string (mouth).
  6. Use the red kokie to colour the string.
  7. Tie a bow with the ribbon and use craft glue to stick it onto the snowman's neck.

Cabaret Paper Plate Fish



Materials:
  • Paper plate
  • Acrylic paint
  • Sequins
  • Googly eye
  • Feather
  • White craft glue
  • Scissors
  • Cardboard paper
Method:
  1. Use the acrylic paint to paint the paper plate (I use acrylic as it gives a more professional, shiny finish)
  2. Cut a mouth and use the cut out as a tail.
  3. Stick the tail to the back of the fish with craft glue.
  4. Decorate with paper hats, sequins and feather using craft glue to stick them into place.

Bonfire Hand Print

Materials:
  • Red poster paint
  • Yellow poster paint
  • White cardboard paper
  • Brown poster paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Hand!!
Method:

  1. Paint the hand red on the palm and yellow on the fingers.
  2. Blend the two colours in the middle where they meet to create a blended look.
  3. Place the child's hand onto the card.
  4. Under the hand print, use the brown paint to paint a cross to mimic wood.

Sequin CD Fish





Materials:
  • CD
  • Blue sequins
  • Silver sequins
  • Purple sequins
  • Pink cardboard paper OR pink paint
  • Purple cardboard paper OR purple paint
  • White cardboard paper (if using paint)
  • White craft glue
  • Scissors
Method:
  1. Use the craft glue to stick the sequins randomly onto the CD.
  2. Leave to dry.
  3. If using paint, paint a section of the white card pink and another section purple.
  4. Cut out the now pink and purple card in the shapes of lips, fins and a tail.
  5. If using coloured card, miss out step 3 and go to step 4.
  6. Use craft glue to stick the card shapes onto the CD.

Shape Mouse



This is a very nice activity for younger children to practice their shapes - specifically triangles and circles.

Materials:

  • White cardboard paper
  • Yellow paper
  • Green paper
  • Blue paper
  • Scissors
  • Pritt glue
  • Black kokie
Method:
  1. Cut out 1 big circle from the yellow paper for the tummy.
  2. Cut out 2 smaller circles from the blue paper for the ears.
  3. Cut out a long triangle from the green paper for the face.
  4. Use Pritt glue to glue the shapes down. First the tummy, then the face and then the ears.
  5. Use the black kokie to draw in feet, arms, a tail and eyes.

Clothes Peg Aeroplane







Materials:
  • Wooden peg
  • 4 coloured ice-cream sticks
  • Poster paint
  • White craft glue
Method:
  1. Paint the wooden peg using the poster paint.
  2. Leave to dry.
  3. Use the craft glue to stick 2 ice-cream sticks to the top of the peg and 2 to the bottom of the peg.  

Paper Plate Spider Web

Materials:
  • Paper plate
  • Brightly coloured poster paint
  • Black poster paint
  • Hole punch
  • String
  • Cellotape
  • 2 googly eyes (optional)
  • White craft glue (if using googly eyes)
Method:
  1. Paint the paper plate in the brightly coloured paint and let dry.
  2. Once dried, paint a child's hands black with the black poster paint and make a spider (see image)
  3. Use the craft glue to stick 2 googly eyes onto the spider (optional)
  4. Once that has dried, punch holes on the edge of the paper plate.
  5. Thread string through the holes to mimic a spider web.
  6. Use the cellotape to secure the ends of the string to the back of the paper plate.

Masking Tape Mummy

Materials:

  • White masking tape
  • 2 googly eyes
  • Black cardboard paper
  • Scissors
  • White craft glue
Method:
  1. Cut out an outline of a body from the black card.
  2. Use strips of masking tape to cover the body, mimicking bandages.
  3. Use craft glue to stick on the googly eyes. 

Autumn Tree Scene



Age Range: 6 years to 10 years old
Estimated Time: 30 to 45 minutes
Messiness: High

Materials:

  • White cardboard paper
  • Orange paper
  • Yellow paper
  • Red paper
  • Cardboard tube
  • Green poster paint
  • Blue poster paint
  • Brown poster paint
  • Red tissue paper
  • White craft glue
  • Scissors
Method:
  1. Paint the white card green.
  2. Use the brown poster paint to paint rings around the cardboard tube.
  3. Cut about 2cm slits from the bottom of the tube.
  4. Bend them outwards and stick craft glue onto the bottom of each flap.
  5. Stick them down onto the now green card.
  6. Cut about 3cm slits from the top of the tube, less the 1cm apart from the other.
  7. Cut out leaves from the coloured paper.
  8. Use craft glue to stick the leaves onto the 3cm flaps.
  9. Use blue paint to paint a river and pond onto the now green card.
  10. Crumple bits of red tissue paper into balls and use the craft glue to stick them under the tree.

Pot of Gold at the End of the Rainbow

3 year old

Materials:

  • White cardboard paper
  • Black cardboard paper
  • Scissors
  • Pritt glue
  • Red tissue paper
  • Orange tissue paper
  • Yellow tissue paper

  • Gold glitter glue
Method:
  1. Cut out a pot shape from the black card.
  2. Use Pritt glue to stick it onto the white card.
  3. Cut out squares from all the tissue paper colours.
  4. Using Pritt glue, paste a the squares of each colour in strips going down so that it looks like a rainbow.
  5. Use gold glitter glue to draw in gold circles to represent the "gold" in the pot.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar - Recycled Water Bottle







Age Range: 6 years to 10 years

Materials:
  • Plastic water bottle
  • Various shades of green tissue paper
  • Red tissue paper
  • Pipe cleaner
  • Craft knife
  • White craft glue
  • Bostik glue
  • Yellow cardboard paper
  • White cardboard paper
  • Green paper
  • Small green pom-pom
  • Pritt glue
  • Scissors
  • Green poster paint
  • Black poster paint
  • Yellow poster paint
Method:
  1. Cut out 2 yellow circles for eyes (about 2cm across) and 2 green circles (about 1.5cm across).
  2. Use Pritt glue to stick the green circles onto the bigger yellow circles.
  3. Spread craft glue on the underneath of the bottle and about 1cm around the edge of the bottom of the bottle.
  4. Stick pieces of red tissue paper onto the glue.
  5. Use craft glue to stick the eyes onto the bottom of the bottle.
  6. Use craft glue to stick the pom-pom on as the nose.
  7. Spread craft glue over the rest of the bottle.
  8. Stick on strips of tissue paper in the different shades of green.
  9. Let dry.
  10. Use the craft knife to poke a hole on the top of the caterpillar just where the red tissue paper ends.
  11. Fold the pipe cleaner in half and push the fold through the hole as feelers.
  12. To make the leaf, cut out a leaf shape from the white card.
  13. Paint the entire cut-out green.
  14. On one side of the leaf, paint over with yellow to create lime green. 
  15. On the other side of the leaf, use a tiny bit of black paint to create the darker effect.
  16. Cut out a "bite mark" on the edge of the leaf.
  17. Use Bostik glue to stick the Caterpillar onto the leaf!
