Plastic Spoon Dragonfly

Materials:

• Plastic spoon
• Acrtlic paint
• Googly eyes
• Black permanent marker
• 2 tongue depressors
• Kokies
• Bostik glue

Method:

1. Paint the spoon with the acrylic paint - if you do not use acrylic paint, it will just flake off.
2. Whist drying, get your child to decorate the tongue depressors with the kokies.
3. Use Bostik glue to stick the tongue depressors together at the middle to mimic dragonfly wings.
4. Once the spoon has dried, use Bostik glue to stick the spoon onto the tongue depressors. 
5. Use Bostik to stick on the googly eyes.
6. Draw a mouth with the black marker.

Craft Stick Lodge Scene

This one is for much older children - was quite challenging for me!!
The materials I am stating are exact to what I used, obviously you can change the colours and sizes if you so wish!

Materials:

• A3 white cardboard paper
• 7 red craft sticks (11.5 x 1 cm)
• 18 orange craft sticks (11.5 x 1 cm)
• 14 yellow craft sticks (11.5 x 1 cm)
• 2 purple craft sticks (11.5 x 1 cm)
• 1 blue craft stick (11.5 x 1 cm)
• 2 orange craft sticks (16 x 1.7 cm)
• 1 red craft stick (16 x 1.7 cm)
• 2 red match sticks
• Scissors
• Pencil
• Black kokie
• Red kokie
• White craft glue
• Blue felt
• 1 purple clothes peg

Method:

1. Copy the picture above. But first do the house and then the pond and then the drawing.
2. When doing the house, start with the wall and then move on to the roof. The roof especially, is very precise with measurements, so you will need a ruler for this. 
3. Have fun!!!!

Craft Stick Dolls

5 year old

2 year old

Materials:

• 2 craft sticks
• White craft glue
• Black kokie
• Wool
• Scissors
• Cupcake liner
• Coloured pencils
• Flesh coloured card 

Method:

1. Flatten out the cupcake liner and colour it in.
2. Fold the cupcake liner in half twice to make a small triangle.
3. Use craft glue to stick the triangle onto one of the craft sticks to make a dress.
4. Cut out a circle from the coloured card.
5. Use the black kokie to draw a face.
6. Cut some wool for the hair.
7. Use the craft glue to stick the wool onto the head.
8. Stick the head onto the other craft stick.
9. Stick the craft stick with the dress on, on top of the other craft stick cross ways to create a doll.

Cupcake Liner Ghosts

Materials:

• Black cardboard paper
• 3 white cupcake liners
• White craft glue
• Black kokie
• 6 googly eyes
• 5 large craft sticks
• 5 smaller craft sticks
• Scissors
• Pink pastel

Method:

1. Cut out the cupcake liners in the shape of ghosts.
2. Use the black kokie to draw on mouths.
3. Use the pink pastel to draw on cheeks.
4. Use the craft glue to stick on the googly eyes.
5. Use the craft glue to stick the large craft sticks to the black card to mimic fence poles.
6. Use the smaller craft sticks horizontally to mimic the wire joining the poles.
7. Use craft glue to stick the ghosts onto the fence.

Clothes Peg Aeroplane

Materials:

• Wooden peg
• 4 coloured ice-cream sticks
• Poster paint
• White craft glue

Method:

1. Paint the wooden peg using the poster paint.
2. Leave to dry.
3. Use the craft glue to stick 2 ice-cream sticks to the top of the peg and 2 to the bottom of the peg.  

Picture Frame

Brilliant for older kids with good concentration.

Materials:

• Coloured cardboard paper
• Coloured ice-cream sticks
• White craft glue
• Scissors
• Buttons
• Glitter glue

Method:

1. We started first by designing the frame on the A4 piece of card and came up with this design for a frame.
2. We used white craft glue to stick it down onto the card.
3. I then drew a very simple picture with glitter glue. Kgosi (age 8) decided to use one of his own photo's from his birthday to frame.
4. We then cut the cardboard to size once everything had dried.

Paper Plate Farm Animals

This was a huge hit with my 3 year old Serbian boy I teach twice a week when we were doing our farm animal theme. 


Age Group: 2 years (with help) to 7 years
Estimated Time: Under 15 minutes
Messiness: Medium

Materials:

• Paper plate
• Pink paint
• White paint
• Black paint
• Small piece of white cardboard paper
• Green cardboard paper
• Ice-cream stick
• White craft glue
• 2 googly eyes
• Scissors
• Bostik

Method:

1. Mix some white paint with the pink paint to make a light pink.
2. Paint the paper plate as well as the small piece of cardboard paper with this light pink.
3. Let to dry.
4. Whilst drying, cut out zig-zag shaped grass from green cardboard paper.
5. Once the small piece of cardboard paper has dried, cut out 2 pig ears.
6. Stick them onto the dry paper plate with craft glue.
7. Use craft glue to stick on the googly eyes.
8. Use the original pink paint (which should be much darker) to paint in an oval nose and mouth on the pig.
9. Once that is dry, paint two circles on the nose for the nostrils.
10. Use Bostik to glue the ice-cream stick to the back of the paper plate and the back of the grass pattern to join the two together. 

 Materials:

• Paper plate
• White paint
• Black paint
• A4 piece of white cardboard paper
• Green cardboard paper
• Ice-cream stick
• White craft glue
• 2 googly eyes
• Scissors
• Bostik

Method:

1. Paint 3 cow patterned "spots" onto the edge of the paper plates with black paint.
2. Use the black paint to paint an oval in the middle of the paper plate as a nose and paint on a mouth.
3. Cut out 2 cow ears and 2 cow horns from the A4 cardboard.
4. Paint the ears black and let dry.
5. Whilst drying, cut out zig-zag shaped grass from green cardboard paper.
6. Stick the ears onto the side of the now dry paper plate with craft glue.
7. Stick the horns on the top of the paper plate.
8. Use craft glue to stick on the googly eyes.
9. Once that is dry, paint two circles on the nose for the nostrils.
10. Use Bostik to glue the ice-cream stick to the back of the paper plate and the back of the grass pattern to join the two together.

• Red paint
• Orange felt
• A4 piece of red cardboard paper
• Green cardboard paper
• Ice-cream stick
• White craft glue
• 2 googly eyes
• Scissors
• Bostik

Method:

1. Paint the paper plate red. 
2. Leave to dry.
3. Whilst drying, cut out zig-zag shaped grass from green cardboard paper.
4. Trace the child's hand onto the red cardboard paper and cut it out.
5. Stick the hand cut-out onto the dry paper plate with craft glue.
6. Use craft glue to stick on the googly eyes.
7. Cut out a triangular beak shape from the orange felt and glue onto the paper plate with craft glue
8. Use Bostik to glue the ice-cream stick to the back of the paper plate and the back of the grass pattern to join the two together. 

Materials:

• Paper plate
• Pink paint
• Black paint
• A4 piece of white cardboard paper
• Green cardboard paper
• Ice-cream stick
• White craft glue
• 2 googly eyes
• Scissors
• Bostik
• Cotton wool balls

Method:

1. Paint the A4 piece of cardboard paper black.
2. Whilst the paper is drying, glue cotton wool balls onto the paper plate. Make sure that there are no gaps.
3. Whilst drying, cut out zig-zag shaped grass from green cardboard paper.
4. Once the A4 of cardboard paper has dried, cut out 2 sheep ears and a triangular shaped head.
5. Stick them on top of the cotton wool balls with white craft glue.
6. Use craft glue to stick on the googly eyes to the now black paper.
7. Use the pink paint to paint the tip of the sheep's face into a nose. 
8. Once that is dry, paint two black circles on the nose for the nostrils.
9. Use Bostik to glue the ice-cream stick to the back of the paper plate and the back of the grass pattern to join the two together.

Materials:

• Paper plate
• Googly eyes
• Yellow paint
• Orange paint
• Yellow cardboard paper
• White graft glue
• Scissors 

Method:

1. Paint the paper plate yellow and leave to dry.
2. Whilst drying, trace your child's hands onto the yellow cardboard to make the chick's wings and cut them out.
3. Once the plate has dried, use orange paint to paint on a beak.
4. Use craft glue to stick on the googly eyes and to stick the hand prints onto the front of either side of the chick.

Ice-cream Stick Chameleon

This is great fun for older children (above 4 years old)

Age Group: 4 years to 10 years
Estimated Time: Under 15 minutes
Messiness: Low

Materials:

• 2 thin pipe cleaners
• 1 thick (preferably multi-coloured) pipe cleaner
• 2 googly eyes
• 3 pom-poms
• Ice-cream stick
• Bostik
• Cellotape

Method:

1. Twist the thin pipe cleaners around the ice-cream stick to make 4 legs.
2. Twist the thick pipe cleaner around your finger once to create a tongue.
3. Cellotape the tongue to the underneath of the ice-cream stick so that the cellotape is not visible.
4. Use the Bostik to stick on the googly eyes and pom-poms
5. You may have to play around with the angles of the legs to make the chameleon stand on its own!!

Plastic Spoon Angel

Age Group: 2 years (with help) to 8 years

Estimated Time: Under 15 minutes
Messiness: Medium

Materials:

• Plastic spoon
• Cupcake liner
• Bostik glue
• Glitter glue
• Gold pipe cleaner
• Black permanent marker
• Scissors
• Cellotape

Method:

1. Flatten out the cupcake liner and fold into half.
2. Cut a triangle into each side so that when you open it up, it creates a wing on either side.
3. Use Bostik glue to stick the spoon down the middle of the cupcake liner.
4. Decorate the cupcake liner with glitter glue.
5. Twist a small piece of gold pipe cleaner into a circle and secure it on the top of the spoon with cellotape to mimic a halo.
6. Use a permanent marker to draw on a face for your angel.
